If you're looking to buy your first home in Palm Beach County, there’s some great news for you!

The county is offering up to $100,000 in assistance for first-time homebuyers to help cover various costs like down payments, closing costs, and even the purchase of a new home.

This funding is available through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) and is part of the county's Purchase Assistance Program.

Here's what you need to know:

  • When to Apply: The online application portal opens on May 5 at noon and closes on May 23 at 11:59 p.m., or after 100 applications have been received.
  • How It Works: Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you qualify, the financial help you receive will be in the form of a deferred loan, meaning you don’t have to pay it back right away. This loan is secured by a mortgage and a promissory note on your new home.
  • Eligibility: To apply, you must already have a mortgage loan approved by a lender.
  • How to Apply: You can apply through the Palm Beach County Government’s website.

Need More Information Before Applying? There will be several virtual orientation sessions that you can attend to get all the details. These sessions are scheduled for April 15, April 22, April 24, April 29, and May 1, and will be held via WebEx. More details can be found on the Housing and Economic Development (HED) website.

You can also call the Mortgage and Housing Investments Division at (561) 233-3600 or email them at HEDverify@pbc.gov for more information.

So, if you’re dreaming of owning your first home in Palm Beach County, don’t miss out on this opportunity to get financial assistance!
